Fun in the sun!

It's no secret that Troy is an outdoor boy. With the recent string of hot, humid weather (and the whole issue of juggling 2 at once) it's been harder to get outside recently. Monday I did manage to fill up the pool during nap time and allow it to warm up just enough to provide some relief for my little guy. Here he is enjoying his 'mlawa' (translation: water)...

Ahhhh!

I love Sundays!

Yesterday was a perfect Sunday afternoon. After a busy week getting ready for the big garage sale on Friday and Saturday, we needed a little time to relax. Troy was obviously tired because he took a long nap, not getting up until 4p.m. Once he was up we packed a bag, picked up Subway, and went to the park for a picnic. We have a great park not too far from us that has a little toddler area, lots of trees for shade, and some fun playground equipment that's a little different than the norm.

There wasn't really any one there when we got there, so we basically had the whole playground to ourselves. Trish, Jon, Joey and Grace joined us for a little bit too, which was a lot of fun. Troy loves having some one to run around with. On the way home we picked up some DQ. What a perfect end to a great afternoon.

I don't have any pictures from the park, but I'll share some others soon.

Balmex Boy

You always see this on the funny video shows, and I'm wondering if every one has this moment at one point or another... Here is ours...

This is what happens when Mommy goes in the other room to do the dishes and leaves Troy alone to his own curiosity. It's still cute. Luckily I caught it before he got too messy.

Here are a few other pictures. Troy is sporting his Illini gear (hat included at his own request). and showing off how he spends most of his day. "Hup-up" which is a combination of hold and pick up. He always wants to hold her, hug her, love her.

That's a little peak in to our day. I hope every one is staying cool where ever you may be!

Big Boy Bed

Troy is doing very well in his new bedroom. The first night went off without a hitch. Tim had to read an extra book or 2, but then he curled up and went to sleep. Nap time the next day was far more interesting. Our first attempt at a nap failed, but I attributed that to the fact that he slept in until after 8 for the first time in months. A later nap proved successful. I read a book to him, we heard some stirring and then it was quiet. After almost 2.5 hours I went upstairs to check on him. It's not uncommon for him to take a 2-3 hour nap, but I was hoping to catch him "in the act" of sleeping in his new bed. I slowly openned the door and peaked in. He wasn't in his bed. Hmmm?! Just then I heard, "Hi Mommy!" from his sweet little voice. He must of crawled out of bed to play with some thing in his room. I openned the door the rest of the way... still nothing. Now the panic starts to set in. I spin around at the repeat of "Hi Mommy!" to find Troy walking out of the office with his blanket and pacifier. I don't know if he slept on the futon, or if he even slept at all. The fact that he escaped bed and his room doesn't surprise me all that much. The fact that he remembered his blanket and pacifier and then closed the door to cover up the evidence is hilarious!

Night time and naps have gone well since then. The room isn't finished yet, but he is enjoying his big boy bedroom so far. Once we add a few more touches I'll post some pictures. I just couldn't resist sharing that story.

2 Months passes too quickly

On July 1st we went for Addison's 2 month well-check. She gained almost 3 pounds in 1 month. As of the 1st of this month, she is 12lbs.-10oz. and 24" long. Since she's still eating like a champ, I'm sure she's even more than that by now. Here are pictures from the 7th in our standard tradition:

Here's her crooked smile I love so much!

We've been having a lot of fun. She is such a good baby. Sleeping through the night is still a work in progress, but she's really laid back during the day so it makes it easier. Troy still loves her as only a big brother can. He's getting big too. Last night was his first night in his "big boy bed". He was very excited to move in to his Mickey Mouse bedroom.

Yes, the walls really are that bright blue you see in the picture. The room as a whole is still a work in progress and we'll post more pictures soon. It'll probably be a few weeks before we move Addison in to the nursery, but we wanted to take advantage of Troy's eagerness to move up in the world.

Here's more proof he's growing up too fast. Here he is showing off his flower tattoo.

Quite an artist, huh?

So, as you can see... things are just cruising by fast as usual. We'll try to post more soon.

Time flies when you are having fun.

The last month has been one filled with new adventures. Addison and Troy are loving their time together, and with all the visitors. Uncle Nick and Anna came to visit the first week in June, followed by Grandma and Grandpa Smith. It's been a lot of fun showing them off. Troy is very proud of his 'baby sista'

About the only time he's not looking after her is when he's playing outside. It's by far his favorite place to be. I think we'll all be very tan this summer.

And to continue the tradition... Here's Addison at 1 month old

We weren't able to capture her first smiles - June 18th - but I did get a couple cute pictures today.

The 2 month mark is just around the corner so I'll try to write again soon.
