Field Trip Fun

I'm still way behind (unless you follow us on Facebook), but I'll get there eventually. Troy has taken 2 field trips with school so far this year - Clay Fire Station and The Patch.

The fire station was a lot of fun. Troy had actually been there before with Tim once, but he was still amazed with every thing.

Not only did Troy get to spray the big fire hose, but he was also chosen to turn on the lights and siren in the fire engine. He had so much fun!

Their second field trip was to "The Patch" pumpkin patch. We didn't go on the warmest day, but the rain held off long enough for us to enjoy all the farm had to offer. The host was great at walking them through a small area to pick up treats for the animals - an old apple for the pigs, sunflowers for the chickens, raspberries for the baby chicks, and green chard for the rabbits. Troy is really timid around animals right now, but he had fun looking at all there was to see in the barn and nearby pens.

After visiting the farm animals, we took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch where each person got to pick their own pumpkin. This first picture is Troy walking hand-in-hand with one of his girlfriends. They're so cute at this age...

Both trips were a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to many more to come!

Catching up!

It's amazing when I look back at the pictures from the last month how much we've done that has gone unblogged. Here are some of the things we've been up to this summer...

We've done a lot of zoo trips. I posted some pictures on Facebook, but just realized there aren't many pictures on here. I'm calling this the year of the zoo since we seem to be trying to visit as many as possible. In addition to our nearly weekly trips to our local zoo, we've also been to the Toledo Zoo (which I can't wait to visit again) and the Michigan City Zoo. We're still hoping to make a trip to the Ft. Wayne Zoo (if we can get the weather to cooperate some day) and plan on visiting the biggest zoo in the U.S. later this year - Animal Kingdom.

We have done more than going to zoos this summer, but these are some of the fun memories captured in 'film'. I'll post another set again soon!

Sweet 16 (Months)!

Sorry this is SUPER LATE!! Things have been insanely busy around here. You'll probably see a whole series of posts and I catch up on all the happenings of the last month. Lets start with Addison's 16 month update.

It's actually been a very busy month for Addison. She recently started walking and is doing it very well. It's like one day she thought, "You know what. I'm 16 months old now. I guess I'll let them in on this little secret... I can walk, I've just been choosing not to. HA! HA!" Her creeping scoot resurfaces every once in a while, but she spends most of her time walking. She loves showing off all the things she can do to, which are all adorable (okay, I'm a little biased) of course. Here are some of her new obbsessions: her brother, Max & Ruby, playing outside, climbing the stairs, bananas (she can eat a whole banana in 30 seconds), purses, shoes, taking care of her favorite baby (feeeding her, taking her for walks, brushing her hair, etc), filling containers with every thing she can find, signing "thank you" (mostly to Daddy), eating, climbing the slide, greeting EVERY ONE she meets, smiling, Billy, cuddling.

Posing for pictures, however, does not make that list. Here are a couple shots I got in our monthly photo spot...

As I look back at my camera at all the things we've done since her last set of pictures, I'm realizing that I have a lot of posts to write. For now, I'm going to enjoy the silence of bed time and edit a few photos.
More soon!

15 months

I know this is several days late, but I was waiting for her well-check visit so I could post some 'stats'! It's been a busy month for Addison. A couple weeks ago she started standing a lot more, and just within the last week has quickly moved to cruising along. She loves pushing her baby stroller across the room! She still doesn't want to hold your hands and walk, but now spends more time standing than she does scooting (or certainly a lot more than before, anyway).

She's also developed quite a personality. No matter where we go, she can make hearts melt. Just today she brought huge smiles to the doctor's face when she went over and gestured to be picked up. Dr. Davis said most kids run from her, so she was thrilled. Then later she was flirting with some police officers so much that I almost couldn't get away. She seems to have every one wrapped around her little finger. This could be very dangerous in the years to come.

Now that she's on the move more, it's EXTREMELY hard to get a picture of her. Here's the best I could do for her 15 month shot!

15 months old
20lbs.14oz. (25th percentile)
31.24" tall (75th percentile)

Yes, We're still here!

It's been a long time since I've posted any thing. It's partially due to the fact that my computer has been on the fritz, and partially because we've been so busy enjoying the summer. Here's a few of the things we've been up to...

Troy and Addison went to their first parade, the Enshrinement Parade for the College Football Hall of Fame. We didn't stay long enough (it was very sunny and l-o-n-g) to see Troy Aikman, but we got to see a lot of people and cool floats. Addison really liked the horses and Troy was impressed with the Sponge Bob balloon and the fact that he got to shake hands with Northwestern's mascott (the Wildcat).

Playing in the back yard...

Going to the zoo (pretty much weekly). Even better, when Grandma and Grandpa go... the kids get to do fun things like pony ride and eat suckers...

Visiting with old friends (if you can count a fellow toddler as being an "old" friend)...

Even though we have been so busy, it's some how been relaxing and so much fun!!!
